How I get the personal information and why I have it
Most of the personal information I process is provided to me directly by you via:
· Email (GoDaddy and Microsoft Exchange)
· Telephone (02-UK)
· Contact form on website (GoDaddy)
I also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:
· From third parties involved in your specific copyediting/proofreading project, be that a publisher or someone else, who has your express permission to pass on the personal information
I use the information that you have given me in order:
· to contact and liaise with you regarding your project
· to carry out proofreading and copyediting services on your documents
· for invoicing and purposes related to my tax authority (HMRC)
· to record your agreement to the Terms and Conditions
· to analyse how visitors use my website
I may share this information with:
· other people legitimately involved in the copyediting/proofreading project, but only with your express consent
Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases I rely on for processing this information are:
(a) We have a contractual obligation.
(b) I have a legitimate interest.
How I store your personal information
Your information is securely stored on:

· Computer hard drives – my computers are password-protected and those passwords are never shared

· Apple iCloud storage (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/en-ww/)
Because clients may work with me on an ongoing basis, I do not delete data unless specifically requested to do so. HMRC requires me to keep records for at least five years from the 31 January submission deadline of the relevant tax year. Please let me know via email (lheath@lhediting.com) if you would like me to delete or amend your records, which I will action immediately (as long as compliant with HMRC’s requirements detailed above).
Cookies
Cookies are small files downloaded on to the user’s computer when they visit a website, for purposes such as remembering preferences and counting the number of people who visit that website.
My website (https://lhediting.com) is powered by GoDaddy and uses advanced tracking to collect aggregated, anonymised data to improve site performance, such as page loading speed, and provide information on how many people are visiting the site. It also provides metrics on any third-party integrations (none currently).

Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal information in certain circumstances (this does not apply under the ‘Contractual obligation’ lawful basis).
Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that I transfer the personal information you gave me to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances (this does not apply under the ‘Legitimate interest’ lawful basis).
You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, I have one month to respond to you.
